The idea of establishing our Association’s dance group, BB Dance (BB comes from Building Bridges, the main motto of several projects and programs initiated by our association) sprang in September 2015, when our colleagues from HIFA-ROMANIA contacted Katalin Somodi , who is a dance teacher and judge, as well as one of the founders and president of the Dance Art dance school. She was asked to teach choreography of a dance on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of activity of our Association to a mixed couple of a disabled person and a healthy one. The performance had a real success, so it was obvious, that the example of the two young people (Éva Bereczki and Attila Kelemen) will be continued.
The first step – providing the financial resources and the motivation – came about with the participation in the project launched by the Community Foundation with the support of the Circle of Sponsors in November 2015 with the aim of organizing the performance Dance of the Wheels.
From the money obtained we ensured the transportation of dancers to the rehearsals, because they are not only from Tirgu-Mures, but also from Sighisoara, Reghin, and Magheran.
It was a real challenge for the association to purchase the proper wheelchairs, but managed that at a fair price.
In the following the serious work of Katalin consisted of two rehearsals weekly, which were initially held at Deus Providebit House, after which the group moved to Corunca in the building of the Sapientia University. This way we thank the board of Sapientia University for letting us use the hall of the university, which is a perfect place for us.
It is important to mention, that Katalin Somodi accepted our request from the initial stage and ever since she has been working with dedication and seriousness with the group members, teaching them even more beautiful choreographies – and all this as a volunteer, out of passion.
As mentioned before, the group consists of young men with movement disabilities and students who study in Tg. Mures. We owe them a special thank for sacrificing their free time to this serious work and for this noble cause.
Members of the dance group:
Men: Mihály Demeter, Dénes Faluvégi, Zsolt Graur, Szilárd Ősz and János Újfalvi.
Women: Margareta Györfi, Timea Aranka Katona, Réka Kotró, Beáta Székely, Timea Noémi.
All the group members in wheelchairs suffered injuries in their youth in various accidents, and the majority of them were in their twenties and thirties. Great respect to them for being able to cross the obstacles raised by the society and their own condition, giving us all an example to follow!
The student girls deserve our gratitude too, who – in spite of their manifold activities, have made all the necessary efforts for the past months to be able to participate and work hard at the rehearsals and during the performances.
We would really like to be present with them in more and more shows in the future, offering a real model to follow for many, a lesson of willpower, humanity, perseverance and love. With these ingredients everything is possible.

I am Katalin Somodi, dance teacher and judge, trainer of Dance Art dance school in Tirgu Mures and president of this social sport dance club. We established this dance school together with my husband in 1999 and since then we have had worldwide successes together with our trainees. We do not have any children yet, but we hope to fulfil this dream as well.
I have become the choreographer and teacher of BB Dance group with pleasure, as it is a professional challenge for me.
My name is Zsolt Graur, and I am 24 years old. At the age of 21 I had a bicycle accident and since then I have been a person with movement disability. I’m one of the dancers of BB Dance group as I was interested in the wheel chair dance. I enjoy challenges and this is a real challenge for me, which gives me great pleasure and joy.
My name is Noémi Tóth, I am 20 years old and I’m a student at Babes-Bolyai University, Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy. I like dancing and socializing. I like things beyond my personal comfort zone, which made me become one of the dancers of the BB Dance group. It gives me pleasure to dance in the group, because every rehearsal is a new challenge and besides the fact that I experience a lot of it, I get to know a few honest, friendly people, who give the necessary power to my soul on a number of occasions.
I am Károly Szilárd Ősz, I am 26 years old and I live in Reghin. Two years ago I caused a stupid accident to myself, whose consequences will be felt for the rest of my life. I climbed with my bicycle on a steep slide and since then I have been paralyzed from the waist down.
Last year I heard about the project of HIFA-ROMANIA, wishing to establish a dance group. From the first time I was sure that I would like to join with pleasure. It is interesting that before the accident I wasn’t interested in dancing whatsoever, but now I’m changed. I can say that wheelchair dancing is a wonderful thing I enjoy the most.
My name is Réka Kotró. I come from a little village near Miercurea Ciuc, Caşinu Nou from Harghita county, where I inherited from my love for dance. I am a third year student in Tirgu Mures and I’m very grateful for the chance to dance in the group.
My name is Dénes Faluvégi, I was born in Sighisoara and I’m 40 years old. I’m a husband and a proud parent of an eight-year-old child. My accident happened seven years ago, in 2009, when I fell over the handrail in the block of stairs due to the bag that got stuck in the rail. Then I was 33 years old and full of life. I had several jobs and I was preoccupied with building my house. I’m member of BB Dance group with pleasure and joy. The time spent with them fills me with happiness, offering me an escape from the monotony of everyday life and rehabilitation.
I’m Timea Aranka Katona, student at UBB and of course member of BB Dance group. I joined the group because I like challenges and I would like to make people realize that nothing is impossible and the phrase “I can’t” does not exist. The urge towards desires is hidden in all of us, and I believe we can exteriorize it. Our dance is the result of a common effort, signaling that there is convergence. Each of us has an important role in the group and we complete each other very well.
My name is Mihály Demeter. I have a life partner. Although we have no children, we would like to have one. In my everyday life I help my partner around the house as much as I physically can. On January 30, 2015, at the age of 28, while felling trees, a tree fell on me breaking two vertebrae of my spine. Since then I have been living in a wheelchair. I became a member of BB Dance group to show the world, that active life is possible in wheelchairs as well, and I would have always liked to dance.
I am János Újfalvi and I’m 46 years old. We live in Tirgu Mures together with my wife and my son. On July 8, 2012 I suffered an accident, I got my neck broken in the water, so I got paralyzed from the neck down. After a rehabilitation program with physical therapy and massage a slight improvement of my health may be seen. I have always liked dancing, so I accepted the invitation to dancing in wheelchairs. The time spent with the dance group means a real joy, enabling me to recharge my batteries.
My name is Beáta Székely, I’m 20 years old and I’m a second year student at Babes-Bolyai University, Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy. I heard about this dance group from one of my teachers, so I thought I should join as I like trying out new things, but most of all I like dancing. The rehearsals offer me spiritual satisfaction and getting to know some special people.
